Day-by-Day Itinerary:

DAY 1 & 2: USA - FLORENCE
Today, you board your Chamber delegation flight for Italy. Upon arrival, your
English-speaking Discovery Program Guide will assist you onto your deluxe
motorcoach. You will arrive at the nearby spa resort town of Montecatini, your
home for the next seven nights. Montecatini is situated in the northern part of
Tuscany, just outside of Florence, in the heart of the Italian art cradle. One
of the many highlights of this tour is that there is no “packing and unpacking”
. . . a relaxed way to experience this wonderful region of Italy. Enjoy your
first real Italian meal this evening in the dining room. (In- flight meal), D
DAY 3: PISA
This morning, you will visit Pisa, just an hour away. The square of Mirades
contains some breathtaking monuments: the Leaning Tower, the Cathedral, the
Baptistry, the monumental cemetery and the Opa Museum. Exploring is made simple,
as everything is located within a few hundred yards. Maybe taste a local
cappuccino at one of the cafes on the square. B, D
DAY 4: SIENA
Today you’ll tour Siena, in the heart of Tuscany. Your escort will lead you to
the Piazza del Campo, the ancient Tuscan capitol, a fascinating art town. This
is the site of the most famous “palio” in all of Italy. This race of men on
horseback, held twice a year, is charged with electricity as the competitors
race around the town square at a furious pace. Take the time to explore the
museums and churches of Siena and the glamorous shops of the Via dei Banchi de
Sopra. (chamber exchange) This evening, join your tour members at an event
hosted by the local “Assoindustria” to exchange ideas in an informal setting.
Learn first hand about business practices in Italy. B, D
DAY 5: FLORENCE
Today, you’ll travel to the heart of the Tuscan region and the city of Florence,
which has produced famous artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Dante and
Michelangelo. Your tour of Florence will include a visit to the Piazza del Duomo
to see its massive bronze “Gates of Paradise,” Signoria Square, the 13th century
Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Giotto Tower, Gallery of Fine Arts to
see Michelangelo’s famous “David”, the Church of Santa Croce where Michelangelo
is buried, and a visit to an Italian leather workshop. The afternoon will be
free to sightsee or shop in Florence. Tonight, you will enjoy an authentic
Renaissance Dinner complete with traditional menu, wines, music and costumes of
the era. B, DB
DAY 6: CARRARA - PORTOFINO
A leisurely drive this morning brings you to the town of Carrara, home to the
most famous marble quarries in the world. As you continue north, you arrive in
the most picturesque cove on the Italian Riviera, Portofino. With its colorful
houses and cobblestone streets, it will provide an unforgetable Mediterranean
experience. You will have time to enjoy meandering through this classic Italian
village before returning to your hotel. B, D
DAY 7: MONTECATINI
Today you are free to enjoy Montecatini, an upscale spa town. Perhaps you will
want to join in an optional excursion to Venice. B
DAY 8: UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN
Today, as you travel south into the heart of Tuscany, you will recognize many of
the landscapes from the movie “Under the Tuscan Sun,” filmed in this area.
Visiting the walled city of San Gimignano, you will admire the many towers, once
the skyscrapers of the 13th and 14th centuries, the bestpreserved medieval
village in Italy. Enjoy your lunch time strolling around the tiny streets
leading to the top of the village, maybe stop in one of the many cafes and small
trattorias for a sandwich and a “gelato”... Italian ice cream. As you drive
south through the Italian wine country this afternoon, your stop will include a
winery to taste the local superb wine. (chamber exchange) Enjoy local wines and
educational program as brought to you by the leaders of the local wine industry.
B, D
DAY 9: FLORENCE - USA
Today you will be transferred back to Florence where you will board your flight
